A nose flute is a flute which plays a melody with your nose. It is said that it was devised by the indigenous people of Brazil and used for communication with God by imitating sound of birds. It became popular as a musical instrument all over the world. At Wara Development Council in Wara-cho, Gujo-shi, you can enjoy nose flute performance and making paper craft nose flute.
Nose flute refers to whistle applying to your nose and mouth, and your nose reverberates in the mouth and makes a sound when you breathe. If you widen the space in your mouth, you will hear lower pitch sound. Pursing your lips, you will get a high pitch. The key to play melody well is to exquisitely squeeze your mouth, move your tongue, and hit the whistle to prevent air from leaking. You don’t need to use music scores or your fingers to play your own melody with your nose and mouth very easily.
