Gujo-shi is located in the center of Japan and also in the center of Gifu-ken, right in the middle of Japan! It is easy to access from Nagoya, Kansai area, and Hokuriku area.
Additionally, it’s just a 70 to 80-minute bus ride from famous tourist destinations like the World Heritage site Shirakawa-go and the historical town of Takayama.
Shirotori, Takasu, and Meiho areas in the northern part of the city, where plateaus are located, are surrounded by magnificent nature. With the blessing of snow in winter, 10 unique ski resorts are opened for visitors to enjoy powder snow here!

You can drive through Hirugano-kogen SA Smart IC in about an hour from Ichinomiya JCT on Tokai Hokuriku Expressway. There is also a ski resort 5 minutes from the interchange, so you do not need to worry about driving on snowy roads. You can get here easily.

10 unique skiing slopes for beginners and families to advanced level!

There are 10 ski resorts in Gujo, with a variety of slopes for small children to families, advanced skiers, long trails, and mountain trails. Snowboard World Cup has also been held here twice, and facilities are fully equipped! Both beginners and advanced skiers are very satisfied. You can visit various ski resorts, find your best ski slope, and find your own way of enjoyment!

Hot spring and roadside stations are waiting for you after skiing!

There are hot spring facilities located around the area. We also recommended to ease your tiredness at the hot springs after enjoying winter sports. You can also enjoy shopping and gourmet food at the unique roadside station and service area.

Gujo Hachiman Castle

Gujo Hachiman is home to a fine feudal castle that sits on a hill overlooking the valley and the town. Gujo Hachiman Castle is the oldest reconstructed wooden castle in Japan.

Old townscape

In Gujo Hachiman, the ancient streets dating back to the Edo period (1600s) still exist, allowing one to experience the unique culture and history that have been cultivated alongside nature for centuries.
