Enjoy Driving among the Autumn Leaves
This time we are going to visit Hakusan-bunka-no-sato (Home of Hakusan culture), Shirotori area. Amidagataki Waterfall is selected to be one of the best 100 waterfalls in Japan. You can sense the mist falling from the top near to the basin. After the waterfall, we are going to see the autumn leaves along National Route 314 and have a relaxing bath at Manten-no-yu in our last destination.
Hakusan-bunka-no-sato Nagataki (Food and Shopping)
A facility contains souvenir shop, information center and fishery experience corner
It is a roadside station located at the upstream of Nagaragawa River. Other than morning market, there are souvenir shop and information center in this roadside station. Visitors can learn about fishery at Ayu Park and know more about Hakusan Culture at Hakusan Culture Museum. Mountains turn all red in autumn. You can see the beautiful autumn leaves together with Nagaragawa River. Shops are selling local specialties. Fast food corner and Restaurant Satokawa are providing Ayu (Sweetfish) cuisine, Gujo mountain yam, fried pork set menu and also rice bowl and noodles.
You can know more about Nagaragawa Ayu which is one of the Globally Important Agricultural Heritages at Ayu Park. Hakusan Cultural Museum is showing Hakusan Culture. There are so many things to see.

The mountain on the opposite side turns all red. You can see the beautiful autumn leaves together with Nagaragawa River.
Amidagataki Waterfall

The best waterfall to walk down to the basin
Amidagataki is selected as one of the best 100 waterfalls in Japan and the most famous 50 waters in Gifu-ken. It is the most famous waterfall in Tokai area with a fall of around 60 meters. There is a walk path leading to the basin. The name Amidagataki comes from a monk in Hakusan Chugu Churyuji Temple during Tenbun era (1532 – 1555). He saw Amitābh when he was receiving training, so this place was named Amidagataki. This waterfall was also drawn on an Ukiyo-e by Katsushika Hokusai.
Amidagataki Waterfall is one of the best 100 waterfalls. Many people come to visit throughout the year.
This waterfall together with autumn leaves look so beautiful like a painting.
You can feel the negative ions when you walk close to the basin.
Road to Itoshiro (National Route 314)
Seeing autumn leaves from altitude of 960 meters
National Route 314 Itoshiro Maedani Line is an important road linking Itoshiro area and Shirotori of Gujo-shi. Red leaves are so pretty on Mt Hinoki-toge with altitude of 960m near to Amidagataki Waterfall on the Maedani side. Autumn leaves are in full bloom from late October to mid-November. Itoshiro was part of Fukui-ken Ohno-gun until 1958. It combined with Gifu-ken Gujo-gun Shirotori-cho. The center of Itoshiro Maedani Line was the border line of prefecture.
The contrast of needle-leaved trees and broad-leaved tree is very outstanding!
The whole picture of red leaves is so beautiful. All visitors love it so much.
It is one of the best spots to see autumn leaves while driving.
Manten-no-yu Hot Spring

A Japanese style hot spring with a whole mountain of autumn leaves
The water is sodium calcium carbonated simple hot spring (Neutral hypotonicity hot spring). It is good for neuralgia, muscle pain, arthralgia, frozen shoulder, motor paralysis, joint stiffness, bruises, sprains, chronic digestive diseases, hemorrhoids, coldness, post-illness recovery period, fatigue recovery, health promotion, cuts, burns, chronic skin diseases.
