Winter Sports

Gujo boasts 10 family-friendly ski resorts. There is much more to do here besides skiing, so you can enjoy a host of other activities and attractions while staying in the charming castletown of Gujo Hachiman.

River Activities

The Nagara River is recognized as one of the three clearest rivers in Japan. You can take in the breathtaking scenery while rafting, kayaking, canyoning, swimming or fishing.

With a vast network of narrow country lanes meandering along rivers and through charming hamlets – with barely a car in sight – Gujo is a cycling paradise. A guided tour will take you to all the hidden gems, such as secluded shrines, spectacular waterfalls, and quaint cafes.

More and more foreigners are traveling by rental car. One of the advantages of this option is that you can camp in some of central Japan’s most scenic and unspoilt areas.
