Food tasting is also very fun!
Okumino Curry is a local gourmet made with local ingredients, like using Gujo’s local miso as a secret ingredient. In 2006, restaurants in Gujo Shirotori area works together with local business and industry association and formed “Okumino Curry Cooperative”. Currently, 12 member stores offer original curries, such as teppanyaki curry and white curry. In addition to curry rice, special menus such as pizza, omelet rice, and Katsudon (Rice bowl with deep fried pork chop) are also available. Takeaway products like allergy-friendly retort curry and curry rice crackers are also recommended as souvenirs.
In addition, this cooperative is also working on town revitalization through Okumino curry with the concept of “Delicious local brand curry that everyone loves”. They provide hands-on learning with Gujo Kita High School for students actually selling Okumino curry at events. It is a very good opportunity to sell products in the real world and learn about local public relations. Okumino curry is a local food that not only connects tourists and the region, but also deepens communication and local love within the region.
