Surprised at the “Handmade” Meiho Ham! Visiting Meiho Ham Factory

Local treasure protecting the area

Most workers in the factory are the locals living nearby or Gujo-shi. As you may know from the photos, this factory located at the deep mountain with little population. Meiho Ham Factory provides jobs for the locals and protects the area. Meiho Ham, with nice taste, making method, is the treasure of Meiho (Ho means treasure)!

After knowing all about Meiho Ham, let us start eating all!!

After visiting the factory, I tried the “Fried Meiho ham set” and “Meiho ham steak set” which were both introduced by TV show at the nearby Roadside Station Surusumi-no-sato Park.

As the ham is thick, I am so satisfied with this set lunch. The ham tastes good before and after cooking. Mr Sumi recommends us to cook to make the meat juicier. It goes well with rice too and makes me eat too much!

Even I am full, I still want to try some more! Meiho sausage is also very famous. Meiho Meat, a company shop of Meiho Ham, sells all kinds of Meiho Ham as souvenir. You can try Meiho sausage, Meiho Ham croquette or fried cake of minced meat here too. The sausage is so juicy and delicious!

After visiting Meiho Ham Factory and eating at Meiho Meat, I know much more about Meiho Ham from this trip. My stomach is so satisfied also! Fan of Meiho Ham, or those who do not know about Meiho Ham, this factory is where you can find famous food and learn about the making of ham. I want to have a drive along the Seseragi Kaido in other seasons next time.
