Autumn Leaves at Gujo Hachiman Castle
Beautiful collaboration of fiery autumn leaves
and white castle tower
Gujo Hachiman Castle, which is a symbol of Gujo Hachiman and is the oldest wooden rebuilt castle in Japan, is also known as a famous castle of autumn leaves. Especially starting from mid November when the autumn leaves reach their peak, the white castle tower is surrounded in burning bright red Momiji (Maple trees), which is described as “Tenshu-enjo (Castle tower on fire)”. Its beauty is overwhelming. Although there are many mountains and temples where you can enjoy the autumn colors all over Japan, it is rare to see a combination of castle tower and autumn leaves, many fans are looking forward to this wonderful combination every year. Gujo Hachiman Castle Town Momiji Festival is held every year according to the time of autumn leaves. Various events such as night illumination, Japanese drum performance, matchlock gun performance and Momiji tea party are held during the festival.
