A field museum with the theme of Japanese poem.

The 9th generation of the To family, who ruled Gujo in the Middle Ages, is the leading researcher of "Kokin Wakashu (Collection of Japanese Poems of Ancient and Modern Times)", and is called "the ancestor of Kokin Wakashū". It was opened in 1993 as an open-air museum with the theme of Japanese poems. You can enjoy a beautiful space of water, light and greenery in this facility which has won numerous architectural awards nationwide. The 2.4-meter in height and 36-meter in width, "Kokin Wakashū Emaki" in Waka Literature Museum expresses the world of "Kokin Wakashū" with delicate paintings and words. There are Toshi-yakataato-teien, peony gardenn, restaurant "Momochidori", and the cafe & shop "Yobukodori". It is also a famous place for seeing cherry blossoms, peonies, and autumn leaves.
