Tenshadai
The turntable left next to the platform at Hokunou Station, the end point of the Nagaragawa Railway (former apanese National Railway Etsumi-nan Line). It is a nationally registered tangible cultural property. The official name is the locomotive turntable at Hokunou Station on the former JNR Etsumi-nan Line. It is a device made by American Bridge Company in the United States in 1902 for changing the direction of a steam locomotive train which used to run on Etsumi-nan Line. It is currently not in use, so you can go up close and see it.

This British-made turntable of Oigawa Railway (1897) is considered to be the oldest surviving turntable, and the turntable of Hokuno Station is considered to be the second one. It is a valuable industrial heritage that has been evaluated as a sample for domestic production which has been active for many years. It is balanced type which supported by central bearings and wheels at both ends of the girder.
