A museum renovated from a wooden elementary school building that was closed in 1974. The number of collection is over 47,000 items. 3,594 of them are designated as national tangible folk cultural properties. In the museum, historical materials (Jomon pottery and stone tools, documents during Edo era), living materials, (Kimono, tableware, furniture) production-related materials (Agriculture, mountain works, sericulture, livestock, hunting, mining, etc.), calligraphy, painting, etc. It is roughly divided into books, and you can see the lifestyle of mountain villages.
