When you walk along Shokuninmachi and Kajiyamachi, you can find old houses and waterways flowing through the eaves. Houses in Yanagimachi retain the essence of Samurai Town, with sleeve walls on the border to the neighboring houses. The eaves of the roof can prevent crime and the spread of fire in close houses. It was selected as an important traditional buildings preservation district of the country in 2012.
