The lord of Gujo, Endo Yoshitaka established this temple in 1606 as one of the temples of Linji School Myoshinji. Tessouen is a scenic garden designated by the city that enshrines Benzaiten with a magnificent rocky mountain as its background. The sound of the waterfall echoing in the garden connects the garden. You can enjoy difference faces of the four seasons, such as the spring of fresh greenery, the red maples in autumn, and the snowy scenery of winter. It is the only Zen Buddhist garden in Gujo where you can relax in the mysterious sound of Suikinkutsu (Water piano cave), which flows in the beauty of nature. On the night of Benzaiten Festival (30th of July), the garden is lit up and the treasure house opens to the public as a special visit. The swaying lights of the garden at night is welcoming you to a world of fantasy.
