A skiing slope with a great view of Mt Hakusan opened 1300 years ago

The west slope of Mt Washigatake at an altitude of 1,671m is crossing Gujo-shi and Takayama-shi. You can see a magnificent view of Mt Gozengamine, Mt Ohnanmine, Mt Kengamine, and Mt Bessan, peaks of Mt Hakusan. Visitors can ski down from the top of a 1,405m slope to 1,050m. In addition to all 13 trails, skiing through to Washigatake Ski Resort besides is possible. Using old-fashioned equipment such as Kasa (Straw hat) and Kanjiki (Snowshoes) made of straw to go snow trekking, is also an experience that you can participate in. There is also a large communal bath and an economy room where you can take a break.

Ride a lift to get to the mountain top and use your snowshoes to head to the observation tower. You only need around 10 minutes to reach. The rental fee for snowshoes is included in the lift’s round-trip ticket.
